Well we don't really want to badger you with lots of information, but the BBC has been around since 1988 producing videos generally on railway subjects, or explosive entertainment. There is a close relationship with the "BrockRail" transportation group, and with "The Wandering Winds", a Dorset based professional wind ensemble.
Equipment used : till 2014 a Canon HF M406 Full HD, with some inserts on a Fuji HS20. Then a Canon HS G30 with the 406 used for multi-camera shoots along with a Hero 4 Silver. Generally sound is recorded using external, dedicated Canon stereo "shotgun" and Dolby 5.1 surround microphones, and often a wide angle lens attachment is also used. Most recent videos have been shot in 4K with a Canon XF400 and Rode Video Mic X, a Hero 10 Black, or in the air with a Mavic Pro or a Magic Mini2. At ground level we have also been using a Hauge Handy Jib portable crane device to get higher and lower angles. Editing is done with Final Cut Pro software.

Shot on a fixed camera (DJI Action 4) out on the firing site with the speakers and audience behind and to the left of the camera so the audio does dip in and out a bit. The lens was on the very wide setting so there's a bit of distor...

I love how every person in the comments are jet lag fans including myself
Yes it surprised me that a song from around 1959 about an obscure railway line I travelled on as a small child and celebrated with a garden railway video attracted all this attention, and is still doing so a year after the initial hits!
BUCEEEEEEEEEES!!!!! Comment below if you know the link 👇
Very nice little locomotives. Are they custom built or from a kit or something? We've got plenty of Roundhouse and Accucraft models here in Australia but I don't see many other live steam locos from other brands so I wasn't quite sure if it was from a manufacturer or custom. Also, hello to the other JetLag fans here in the comments!!
Built by a retired Rolls Royce engineer, now unfortunately no longer with us, John Prescott. He built a small range of gas fired 0-4-0 locos and this tender version with radio control, entirely from scratch in a garage / workshop in his garden. Each one did take some time to emerge from the works! There’s a couple of us in Nottinghamshire who own examples, and I believe he built around 50 locos altogether, with the Wagtail class tender version very much in the minority. Lining was done by Lightline. He also made various parts and a very good rolling road, these latter probably being more profitable than the locos as he could make one in around 30 minutes.
@@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting Very impressive, sounds like he was a very talented man! Sorry to hear that he has passed on. They are interesting models - certainly wouldn't see much like that over here.
"but no one knows the difference when they're drippin' from the SACK." - adam chase, 2023
It would appear that the steam shovel was the harder machine to make fully functional as the trick is to get the dipper to move in and out. The drag line by comparison is a lot easier to make fully functional. Both machines require several motors, gearing, cabling and wiring. Tricky stuff. Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
I suspect that this quarry is some Accountants tax dodge, a loss making business to hide some funny money business elsewhere? Seriously though, it's a great working model and it must have taken ages to work out the motors and controls arrangements for not one but two machines. Even though it is "the size of a dining table" at that scale it qualifies as a Micro Layout! 😅 I will admit that after spending many hours in the backyard sandpit with my Tonka machines that I am more than slightly jealous! Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Either that or a Government work scheme! 🤠 If I remember correctly the size was limited by the maximum that could be fitted in to the owners car, and yes I believe that it did take some time to design / work out, and that the controls closely mimicked those of the real machines except there weren't any foot pedals. Unfortunately I don't know if in 2024 it still exists, but the 2024 National Show will be on Saturday 27th April at Stoneleigh Park, and I know there are already several Aussies coming!
99% of these views are from Jet Lag fans trying to get away from Ben and Adam's singing, tell me I'm wrong. (also why are they the ones who always get the singing challenges)
Yes the Jet Lag community discovered it last year and views went bonkers!
@@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting Lmao you made this 12 years ago only to have it explode way later due to two guys doing a random challenge in a series.

*WE'RE MAKING IT OUT OF THE OKAIHAU RAIL TUNNEL WITH THIS ONE!!!!* 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
How do you put the batterys in the roof of the steam locos for RC
Depends on the loco, a number of mine have on board rechargeable packs so you need to partially dismantle the bodywork if you need to replace them, others like the Silver Lady the cab roof hinges to one side and the battery holder slides out from mounts built in to the roof
Beautiful garden railway in the day and ever more magical as the daylight fades. Meeting up with friends is a great part of this hobby 🚂👍
Minute 3 on… brilliant!
I wonder how many times Ben and Adam watched this video while despairing in that tunnel
Really enjoyed this video, a very nice overview of the event. Thank you for sharing ! Could someone tell me what brand and model, the loco and 2 coaches are, seen at 1:15 min in to the video? ( dark blue loco and light blue coaches ) Also, is there a website for the Dixon Green Light Railway ?
Glad you enjoyed the video. As far as I’m aware Dixon Green doesn’t have a website. It’s owned by the Yorkshire 16mm group, was largely built by Phil Thompson, and generally offers younger modellers a running opportunity at the National Garden Railway Show. Hopefully someone will identify the loco
I went with my 11 year old grandson. It's been good to re live it again, sat down with a cuppa. My grandson has added a small video of it to UA-cam, a new little venture for him 🙂👍
Glad you both enjoyed the show. Don’t forget to add the National Garden Railway show to you diary - 27th April 2024 at Stoneleigh
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting we'll try and get to that. It'll be another video for him to make. He's really enjoyed creating them at the moment. He keeps filming his model railway and posting a few 🙂👍
What a setting!
No I didn't fly a drone in the roundhouse! The "aerial" shots were taken on a DJI Action 4 camera attached to an extending "selfie stick".🦡🦡
I was especially struck by that second-to-last shot, with the live steam model chuffing along next to the real thing. Puts things into perspective just a bit!
Who else came here after watching jet lag
Wow - just as I remembered the gravel pit I worked in. This is fantastic realism - a credit to you for sure. Long may you enjoy.
Glad you like this layout, I'm not sure if it is still on the circuit, but was a work of art
Due to the delayed start the drone battery ran out mid display and it returned to the take off point for this to be replaced!
The drone was some 50m above ground level
Who is Ben and Adam are they playing tag right now?
Yes, as part of Season 7 (Tag Across Europe 2).

Thank you for sharing your video of our winning display, really great footage especially with the different camera positions. If you've ever wondered what happens to the prizes won in the National Garden Railway Show prize draw, then here's one running (the blue Roundhouse diesel) and it's named "Peterborough". Part of the NGR home fleet.

@@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting Thanks a lot for sharing!
i know it wouldnt be prototypical but it could do with painting green in the future to blend in better.Maybe name it samson or collosus like a western region class 47 with cast plates?
I guess it depends how you define “prototypical” given that this is the first time a loco of this class has even run on the VoR. I imagine that the thinking is that it’s named “Dragon mountain” so painted in red as per the Welsh flag dragon, but I could see lined Brunswick green working, or Caledonian black, not sure about rail blue though🤠
I’m listening to this in my head filled with adams voice cracks and it’s giving me season 5 nostalgia
Fun video, thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it
Berry Hill as in Berry Hill Mansfield?
Yes, and "Berry Hill Works" who do excellent loco lining and painting
A mind blowing achievement, building a working gas turbine. 160000rpm, incredible! The real GT3 has always been a favourite of mine, I have a soft spot for lost causes..
i've had the lyrics stuck in my head for like 2 months smh, having to listen to ben and adam struggle to memorise it lmao
It was originally a 5 inch gauge railway, and the first locomotive was a Great Western King John. This was not sufficiently powerful enough to carry people though so they went for overscale 7 1/4 inch locomotives...
Thats interesting, I remember hearing that originally it was just a farmer and his family playing trains, but they got so many people coming over and asking if they could get involved that the attraction was developed.
So we’re all here from JetLag.
I could still hear Adam's agonising scream as he was frustrated for God knows how many times they need to get past the singing 😂
Good video explaining how crazy the model world among some enthusiast tolerate. I am a Marine Engineer who has dealt with real boiler which makes this deluded world laughable. These minute boilers are incapable of causing any real damage hence there is NO REQUIREMENT IN LAW TO INSIST ON BOILER CERTIFICATES. I have met some totally in competent boiler inspectors and it is a waste of breath to talk to them so I resigned from the club and joined a club where they have sensible rules and do not require tiny toys to have a boiler certificate. This has nothing to do with safety and the insurance payments are a waste of money .
Thanks for your comments Ronnie.
What's kind of neat is in the classic 1958 book "The Maine Two Footers" there is a photo essay at the end called "Two Footers from other Parts of the World". There is a builder's photo of a Baldwin two foot gauge Pacific that was exported to a cement company in South Africa. She looks a lot more Americanized today, and is probably multiple boilers down the road, but Brecon Mountain #2 is the same locomotive!
Wow they actually nailed the tune
I make g scale trains. Wonder if i would be allowed to sell from a small stall at one of these ?
The 2024 national show will be on 27th April and trade stands will be available email trader.bookings@16mm.org.uk for details
who tf is ben and adam bet they're eating cheese in some brain eating amoeba water
theres a show called Jet Lag: The Game on youtube and 2 members (ben and adam) needed to memorize this song to complete a challenge
They were / are two contestants in a game called Jet Lag which is a Competitive game show based around traveling (and its hardships) where contestants complete challenges to use different modes of transportation. Apparently one challenge was to learn the Okaihau Express song🤠
Guys, this comment is a joke smh
@MrRnipperBrockleBroadcasting A later challenge was to eat cheese in a hot spring. So the opening commenter was joking too. It's a good show, actually.
